Watching football match at home could be improved using AR

Football is one of the most popular sports in world with a 3.5 billion fans estimation. Everyone wants to support their favourite team in the stadium but we can’t always afford that and resort to watching at home. In fact, most football fans could only watch from home. This is why people are making the experience of watching from home more immersive.

Recently, Sporttotal’s Head of Immersive Technologies, Guillaume Chican uploaded video on youtube showcasing the capability of Augmented Reality (AR) to improve football watching experience. The video showed a football match playing on the TV while the board at the bottom showing a 3D rendered bird’s eye view of the match. The 3D rendered players playing on the board were in sync with the match on the TV. All of this is possible using Tilt Five, a holographic gaming table device. Here is the video:

Tilt Five consist of a plain board, AR glasses and a controller. Users can view apps on the plain board using the AR glasses. They would interact with the apps using the controller. In this case, the app is 3D rendered view of a football match above made by Chican. Here is video about Tilt Five:

Sporttotal offers an all-in-one solution for camera system in cooperation with Telekom in Germany, Mixed reports. The company was previously experimenting with a video player that renders a 3D view of a football match before the Tilt Five. Here is a video showcasing the video player’s capability:
