Pico 4: New VR Headset Faces Delay Due To Unprecedented Global Demand

Pico, ByteDance’s subsidiary revealed their latest VR headset last month. The next-generation VR headsets, Pico 4 and Pico 4 Pro begins shipping on Tuesday, 18th October in Europe, Japan & South Korea. However, Pico recently announced that there would be shipping delays to Europe due to “unprecedented global demand”. A lot were worried their headsets will not arrive on time despite preordering way earlier. Nevertheless, many were also positive about it stating that this was good news for the TikTok owned company. Here is the link to the tweet.

The Pico 4 received huge attention partly because of the Meta Quest Pro announcement recently at Meta Connect virtual event that disappointed hardcore VR gamers – the most loyal customers of the Meta Quest. Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the price of the long-awaited headset: $1,499. Many felt the price was too much for a company preaching that the Metaverse is for everyone.

Pico strongly suggest that customers keep their order in place as earlier orders will be prioritised. Pico also suggests that if the delay is not worth the wait, Neo 3 Link is available and in stock. Pico Neo 3 Link is the none-enterprise version of Pico Neo 3 Pro. This Neo 3 releases were meant to test the waters of consumer VR before releasing the Pico 4 series.
