Ever look at your router or switch and wonder “Which cable is the one that connects to my desktop upstairs?”. Networking can be cumbersome as your devices that consume internet multiply. Businesses need no more saying as their offices could possibly have hundreds of internet devices. Ubiquiti attempts to solve this by introducing AR to their consumers.

Identifying cables using AR
UniFi is a network management and deployment service provided to customers by Ubiquiti. UniFi provides an ecosystem of networking devices – most importantly switches. Switches are necessary to extend and manage your networking but can be harder to manage as your networking grows. UniFi provides an app for customers to identify the devices connected to each ports.
The feature has been around for years already. You would need a UniFi switch and download its app to get started. The AR feature turns on the camera to scan the marker on the switch. Each port on the switch overlays information of the port and its connected device. Sometimes it can be tiring to look through each port for a connected device. UniFi simplifies this providing a list of connected devices. Users can click on any device and it will highlight the port the device is connected to.
